The Characters:  Ramya, Varsha  and Mother ( a middle aged house wife)

Ramya and varsha are firneds studying in different colleges .  They live in the same city.

Ramya visits Varsha's house to invite her to her brother's marriage. Varsha is studying for her supplymentary exams.  the play begins with Ramya entering Varsha's house.

Mother:  what a surprise!  Ramya,  come in, sit down

Ramya: How are you aunty? where is varsha ?
She has gone to watch a film?

You must be joking.
Ha..ha,,ha  she is studying seriously for her exams

I know how can she leave books during exams

Go into her room. 

(She enters Varsha’s room.)

 

               
Hai Ramya!

Hai, varsha, sorry for the disturbance. How are you?

Hai Ramya, come on sit down, don’t say that. Your visit is not a disturbance it is a pleasure

You must be working hard.  Is it not?
Stop talking about studies always. 

what happening?  what is new?

I came here to invite you for my brother’s marriage.
 When is the marriage?

Next week . I think that  by then, your exams will be finished

Yes,  I have not done well in  two subjects.   In fact I have not written the exams.

Study well. It is a shame on you to go for supplies.
No,  I cannot study well because studies are boring.

what is your brother doing?
He is a business man.

Is he a business man?
 How lovely!  You like business.
Yes. I love business much. 

That is nice. You can do it after your studies. Actually I want to stop studies but my father.

 If you stop studies how can you get knowledge? We can earn money by doing business or something else, but we don’t get knowledge by doing business.
Who wants knowledge? I want money.

You are crazy. If you don’t believe knowledge why are you studying?

My father says " Study and get B. Tech. Then you can get a job." He says business is risky. 

Why do you think that business is risky?
We invest money in business.
You think you are not investing money in studies?

of course we do, but we don’t invest money at a time.
You may not invest money at a time but certainly you invest huge amount in 16 years. What about time? Time means nothing to you? In business you lose 6 months or one year. In education you spend 16 years, the important part of your life.  Yet there is no guarantee to get a job. There are millions spending life in unemployment and despair. When you have no value for studies tell you parents straight away. Don’t think business is dangerous. Education is more dangerous than business

మనిషీ నీకు భాష్పాంజలి

ఆధునిక జీవితం బాగుందా? పురాతన కాలం లో జీవితం బాగుందా?  అప్పట్లో చాలా దూరాలు కాలినడకన పోయేవారు. ఇప్పుడు పక్కనే ఉన్న బజారుకి  , బడికి కూడా కారు లో వెళుతున్నారు. అప్పుడు ఎడ్ల బండ్లమీద ఎండలో మాడుతూ ప్రయాణం చేసి టూరింగ్ టాకీస్ లో  లవకకుస సినిమా చూస్తే, ఇప్పుడు ఆన్లైన్ లో బుక్ చేసుకుని ఐనాక్స్ లో అనిమేషన్ తో తయారైన అపూర్వ అద్బుతాలను చూస్తున్నాము. సెల్ ఫోన్ జేబులో వేసుకుని దాంతో పాటు ప్రపంచాన్ని వెంట తీసుకెళుతున్నాము.

నాజీవితం లో కూడా ఇదే జరిగింది. నలభై ఏళ్ళ క్రితం ఈ రంగులు హంగులు  రాకముందు బ్లాక్ అండ్ వైట్ రోజుల్లో పుట్టినవాడిని,  కాలినడకన తిరిగినవాడిని, చిన్నప్పుడు ఏ సి అంటే ఎరగనివాడిని, కరంట్ పొతే విసనికర్రని , దీపం బుడ్డిని నమ్ముకున్నవాడిని  ఇప్పుడు ఇన్వర్టర్  ఇంట్లో ఉన్నవాడిని, బ్యాంకు కు కూడా పోకుండా  ఫోన్లో బ్యాంకు పనులు చేసుకున్తున్నవాడిని, బైటికి వెళ్ళితే ఏ సి కారు , ఇంటికివస్తే ఏ సి. ఇవి చాలామందికి దొరికే సుఖాలే , ఇంతకన్నా అద్భుత  సుఖాలు , అనవసర సుఖాలు అనుభవించే వారు చాలా మంది ఉన్నారు. అయితే  ఆధునిక జీవితం బాగుందా? పురాతన కాలం లో జీవితం బాగుందా?   ఆలోచనా జ్ఞానం లేనివాడికి ఎడారి  కూడా  పచ్చగా కళకళ లాడుతున్నట్లు ఉంటుంది .  మూర్ఖుడికి వాపు బలం లా కనిపిస్తుంది.  ఒకవైపునుంచే  చూసేసి , ఒకవైపు వాదనే వినేసి తీర్పు ఇచ్చేసి నట్లు నిర్ణయించకూడదు అని విజ్ఞులు అందరూ అంగీకరిస్తారు.

మనిషికి శరీర సుఖాలు  పెరిగాయి నిజమే, ప్రకృతి ఎంత నాశనం అయ్యింది? యంత్రాల వల్ల పని వేగం అయ్యింది  సులభం పెరిగింది, పని ఎన్ని రేట్లు పెరిగింది, టైం కి తిండి, నిద్ర ఎంతమంది కి దక్కుతుంది? మానసిక వత్తిడి ఎంత పెరిగింది?  బాహ్య ప్రపంచ మెరుగులు అందుకోడంలో పడి అంతరంగాన్ని అందుకోలేకపోతున్నాడు. ప్రేమ స్నేహాన్నిఅవగాహన కుటుంబసభ్యులనుంచి పొందడము కూడా ఒక అద్భుతంమే. స్త్రీ పురుషలమధ్య  ప్రేమ ఆకర్షణ సహజం వాటిని వ్యక్తపరచడం సాహసం గా పరిణమించింది  తక్కువ కులమని ప్రేమికుల ప్రాణాలు తీసేస్తున్నారు , ప్రేమించాక పోతే ప్రణాలు తీసేస్తున్నారు.  ప్రేమ ప్రాణాంతకం గా మారింది  .  సవ్యంగా ఒకే కులం నుంచి పెద్దలు కుదిర్చిన పెళ్లిలతో సుఖపడిపోతున్నారా అంటే అదీ లేదు, ఈగో , పురుషాహంకారం , ఇంకంపేటబిలిటీ ఇలా చాలా సమస్యలు వీటన్నిటికీ కారణం ఆలోచన, ఆటిట్యూడ్ , కల్చర్  వీటిని టెక్నాలజీ ఎప్పటికీ సవరించలేదు విజ్ఞత, కల్చర్ మాత్రమే సరిదిద్దగలవు. కానీ అందుకు చదువు ఉండాలి కదా ! మనకు లేనిది అదే కదా ! చదువు , కల్చర్ మనకి ఇవేలేవు. అక్కర్లేదు కూడా.

పక్కవాడితో మాట్లాడడం అనవసరం  ఇరుగు పొరుగు అనేది సరదా కబుర్లు చెప్పుకోడం తగ్గిపోయి కాలక్షపానికి కూడా( టీ వీ, రేడియో ) యంత్రాలమీద ఆధారపడుతున్నాము  మరి  మానవ సంబదాలు మాటేమిటి?
పసిపిల్లల్ని రేప్ చేసి చంపే క్రూరులు పెరిగిపోతున్నారు  భార్య నగ్న చిత్రాలని ఇంటర్నెట్ లో పెట్టే భర్తలని చూస్తున్నాము. హద్దులు దాటిన క్రూరత్వం మానవత్వాన్ని అపహాస్యం చేస్తుంటే ,  మానవ సంబంధాలపై నమ్మకం పోతున్నాది. సాంఘిక బద్రత ఎంత ఉంది ? బైటకు స్వేచ్చగా వెళ్ళడం దేముడెరుగు,ఇంట్లో కూడా నిర్భీతిగా ఉండలేని స్థితి నలుగురు కళ్ళముందే పట్టపగలే మాన ప్రాణాలను దోచుకున్నా నస్తపరిహారమే తప్ప న్యాయం దొరకని సమాజంలో  మనిషికి  ఆధునిక సౌకర్యాలు   పెరిగాయి అని  మురిసిపోతూ  మానవత్వమా నీ అడ్రెస్స్ ఎక్కడ  అని  వెతుక్కుంటూ ఎంత దీనగా బ్రతుకుతున్నాడు మనిషి. వోటేసిన ప్రభుత్వాలే కాటే సేస్తుంటే, నమ్ముకున్న వాడే కడ తేర్చేస్తుంటే మనషి కంటే యంత్రాలే నయమని బతుకీడుస్తున్నా మనిషీ నీకు భాస్పాంజలి.

గ్రామర్ నేర్చుకుని ఇంగ్లిష్ లో మాట్లాడగలరా?

తెలుగు వారు ఇంగ్లిష్ గ్రామర్ నేర్చుకుని ఇంగ్లిష్ లో మాట్లాడగలరా?

ఇంగ్లిష్ మాట్లాడ దానికి కేవలం గ్రామర్ ఒక్కటీ సరిపోతుందా?

సరిపోదు. ఎందుకు?

శబ్దం, పద ఉచ్చారణ , పద్ధతి, ఆలోచన ఇగ్లిష్ మాట్లాడానికి అవసరం

శబ్దం: అక్షరాలు శబ్దాలకు ప్రతినిధులు. ఏ భాష అయినా మొదట సబ్ధరూపంలోనే ఉన్నది.  భాష కనిపెట్టిన వేల సంవత్సరాల తరువాత లిపి కనిపెట్టబడింది అని మర్చిపోవద్దు. ఏ భాషనైనా ఆ భాషకి చెందిన సబ్దాలతోనే ఉచ్చరించాలి. మంచులక్ష్మి గారు మాట్లాడే తెలుగు చూసి అందరూ గేలి చేయడానికి కారణం పరభాషా శబ్దాలతో తెలుగు మాట్లాడడమే. మరి మనం చేసేది అదే.  ఇంగ్లిష్ ని తెలుగు శబ్దాలతో మాట్లాడుతున్నాము.

అ ఆ యి ఈ ... అలాగే

క  ఖ ,, ట .. త .. ద ...  ధ  న ప ఫ బ భ మ య ర ల వ     ... మొదలగు అన్ని అక్షరాలనీ ఎలా చదవాలో తెలుగువారికి తెలుసు. అంటే వాటి శబ్దాలు మనకు తెలుసు. కానీ ఇంగ్లిష్ లో ఈ శబ్దాలు లేవు.

ర అనే శబ్దం ఇంగ్లిష్ లో r శబ్దం ఒక్కటి కావు.

క అనే శబ్దం ఇంగ్లిష్ లో  K శబ్దం ఒక్కటి కావు.

వ అనే శబ్దం తెలుగులో ఒక్కటే ఉంది. ఇంగ్లిష్ లో రెండు - వ - శబ్దాలు ఉన్నాయ్.

W ,V ఈ రెండు అక్షరాలూ రెండు రకాల ‘వ’  శబ్దాన్ని ఇస్తాయి.  ఇంతే కాక

దీర్ఘము, (కా) :  ఈత్వము (కీ) :  ఒత్వము (కో);  ఐత్వము (కై) వంటి వి ఇంగ్లిష్ లో లేవు.

అంటే; అంటే కాల్ , టాక్ , వాటర్ అని పలకడము సుద్ధ తప్పు. ఎందుకంటే ఇంగ్లిష్ లో దీర్ఘము లేదు.

అలాగే కోట్ (తొడుక్కునేది), నోస్ (ముక్కు) ఇలాటి ఓ తో వచ్చే ఉచ్చారణలు కూడాలేవు.

అంటే కోట్ , నోట్, నోస్ తప్పుడు ఉచ్చారణలు.

Cat, Bank  కేట్ అని బేంక్ అని రాయలేము కదా? క్యాట్ , బ్యాంక్ అని ఎందుకు రాస్తాము?

కేట్ అని బేంక్ అని రాయడం తప్పు అని తెలుసు గనక.

ఇదంతా విన్న తరువాత శబ్దం ఎలా ఉంటేనేం? అని ఒక నిరక్ష రాస్యుడు మాత్రమె ప్రశ్నిస్తాడు.

పద ఉచ్చారణ  ప్రాముఖ్యత : ఆవు అనే పదాన్ని ఎవు అని పలికితే ఎలావుంటుంది?

చాలా చికాకు గా అనిపిస్తుంది. ఇది నిజం. ఎవరైనా భాషనీ తప్పుడు ఉచ్చారణతో పలికితే వినలేము.

పైగా ఉచ్చారణ మారితే పదం యొక్క అర్ధం మారిపోతుంది.

కట్టు. కుట్టు. కొట్టు. ఉచ్చారణ బట్టి ఒక్కొక్క పదానికి ఒక్కొక్క అర్ధం ఉంది.

బహుళ ఉచ్చారణలు : ఇంగ్లిష్ అక్షరాలూ పదాలూ కూడా స్థిర ఉచ్చారణను కలిగి ఉండవు.

In English the sound of a letter and pronunciation is not fixed as in Telugu.

ర - ఈ అక్షరాన్ని ర అనే చదువుతాము . క - ఈ అక్షరాన్ని క  అనే చదువుతాము

ఇంగ్లిష్ లో ఇలా కుదరదు. A అ అని చెప్పలేము. Apple. Manace. Age. Apartment. Water.

Apple లో A చేసే శబ్దం తెలుగు లో  రాయడానికి కుదరదు. తెలుగులో అటువంటి శబ్దం లేదు. 

Menace లో A - యి శబ్దాన్ని ఇస్తుంది. Age  లో A  చేసే శబ్దం తెలుగు లో లేదు. 

Apartment లో A ని పలకము. Water లో A ని ఒ గా పలుకుతాము.

అక్షారాలు - బహుళ శబ్దాలు :

U అనే అక్షరాన్నే తెసుకోండి. ఇది ఒకే శబ్దాన్ని ఇవ్వడు. BUT, PUT, BUSY, BURY, DUTY.

బట్, పుట్, బిజి,  బెరి , డ్యూటి. U అనే ఒకే అక్షరం ఐదుశబ్దాలని ఉత్పత్తి చేస్తుంది.

O అనే ఇంగ్లిష్ అక్షరం ఒక్కో సారి ఒక్కోలాగా పలకాలి. ONE వన్. ORDER ఓడ. OPINION అపీన్యన్.

రాయడానికి వీలుకాని శబ్దాలు: 

బృవ్వట బాబా తలపై పువ్వట... అని తెనాలి రామలింగడు చలన చిత్రం లో ఒక రాయడానికి వీలుపడని శబ్దం గురించి ప్రస్తావన ఉంది.  ఇంగ్లిష్ లో ఇటువంటి శబ్దాలు అనేకం. అంతే కాక A  అంటే అ అని G అంటే గ అని P అంటే ప అని E అంటే ఎ అని తెలుగునుంచి ఇంగ్లిష్ కి అన్వయించడం కుదరదు.  Colonel - కర్నల్ అని పలుకాలి. ఈ పదంలో r  అనే అక్షరం లేనే లేదు.Psychology  సైకాలజీ అని పలుకాలి. ఈ పదంలో P అనే అక్షరం ఉచ్చరించబడదు.

పద ఉచ్చారణ;

వివిధ ఉచ్చారణలు : ఇంగ్లిష్ లో ఒకే పదానికి రెండు ఉచ్చారణలు ఉండడం  సహజం

ఇంగ్లిష్ లో ఉచ్చారణ బట్టి పదం అర్ధం ఉంటుంది. (స్పెల్లింగ్ ఒకేలా ఉన్నప్పటికీ కూడా )

Conduct  -  ఈ పదాన్ని కాండక్ట్ . కండక్ట్. అని రెండు రకాలగా పలకవచ్చు.

మొదటి రకంగా ఉచ్చరిస్తే నామవాచకము. దీని అర్ధం ప్రవర్తన.

రెండవ రకంగా ఉచ్చరిస్తే క్రియ (verb) దాని అర్ధం  నిర్వహించు.

ఇలాటి పదాలు ఇంగ్లిష్ లో అసంఖ్యాకం. మరి కొన్ని ఉదాహరణలు  Progress. Project. Insult. Import.  

Order, ఆజ్ఞ , ardour, పట్టుదల,  odour. వాసన అని వేరు వేరు అర్ధాలు ఉన్నట్టే వీటికి పద ఉచ్చారణ కూడా వేరు.

చాలామంది  order – ఆడ్దర్  అని పలుకుతారు. మిగితా రెండు పాదాలు వారికి తెలియవు. అనేక అంతర్జాతీయ భాషలను కలుపుకున్న మహా సముద్రం ఇంగ్లిష్. తెలుగు నుంచి ఇంగ్లిష్ నేర్చుకోదానికి ముందు ప్రతి తెలుగువారు తప్పక చదవవలసిన తెలుసుకోవలసిన విషయాలు ఇవి. హుందాగా ఉండే ఉచ్చారణ , తప్పులులేని భాష మీ సొంతం అవుతుంది. అందుకు మీరు చేయవలసిందల్ల ఇంగ్లిష్ లో ఉన్న శబ్దాలు, పద ఉచ్చారణ, పధ్ధతి అంటే భావ వ్యక్తీకరణ పద్ధతి మరియు ఆలోచన తెలుసుకోవడమే. ఆలోచన అంటే ఇంగ్లిష్ ఆలోచన. ఇవి తెలుసుకోవడం వల్ల మంచి ఇంగ్లిష్ చక్కటి ఉచ్చారణతో మాట్లాడవచ్చు లేకపోతె మనం మాట్లాడేది బట్లర్ ఇంగ్లిష్ మాత్రమె.

పదాలు: కొన్ని పదాలను తెలుగు నుంచి ఇంగ్లిష్ లో కి తర్జుమా చేయకూడదు. వాటి సమ పదాలను (equalents) తెలుసుకొని వాడాలి. అంటే భావము కలిఇగిన లేదా అర్ధాన్నిచ్చే పదాన్ని తెలుసుకోవాలి. లేదా వినేవాడికి అంతా మకతిక* గా ఉంటుంది.  ఈ క్రింది పదాలను ఇంగ్లిష్ లో ఊహించగలరా?

అతడు చేయతిరిగిన చిత్రకారుడు. 
నోరుతిరగని పదాలు. 
పోలీసులు ఖంగు తిన్నారు.
నా ఖర్మ కాలిపోయింది.

ఈ భావనలు ఇంగ్లిష్ లో కూడా ఉన్నాయ్. కానీ వేరే విధంగా ఉన్నాయ్. అలాగే ఇంగ్లిష్ లో ఉన్న పదాలు తెలుగులో వేరే విధంగా ఉండచ్చు.  ఉదాహరణకు:   call girl అంటే పిలుపు అమ్మాయి కాదు.

  

పద్ధతి

బస్ ఎక్కడం, పరీక్షా రాయడం ,  గిజగిజ లాడిపోవడం. అయిపోయిన్దేదో అయిపొయింది.

ఈ భావనలు ఇంగ్లిష్ లో కూడా ఉన్నాయ్. కానీ చెప్పే పద్ధతి వేరు.

Climbing bus ఎంత తప్పో Writing exam అని వాడడం కూడా అంటే తప్పు.
I am taking the bus / making the bus. I am taking the test / appearing for the test.

చివరిగా తెలుగు ఆలోచనల గురించి తెలుసుకుందాం.

ఏం తిన్నది అరగడం లేదా? వాడికి కళ్ళు నెత్తికెక్కాయి- వంటి ఆలోచనలు వేరే భాషలో ఉండాలని నియమం ఏమీ లేదు. చాలావరకు ఉండవు. అప్పుడు మన ఆలోచనలను మార్చుకోవాలి.  అలాగే చెప్పడానికి ప్రయత్నిస్తే పెళ్లి నూరేళ్ళ పంట marriage is hundred years crop. అని శ్రీవారికి ప్రేమలేక కాదు కాదు శ్రీవారికి ప్రేమలేఖ చిత్రం లోలేక శంకర్ దాదా MBBS లో లాగ infront crocodile festival లా ఉంటుంది మనభాష.

Poolabala in Social Service

I share my social work with profound faith in you and to find opportunities to serve. This post  shows how I put my belief into practice to help the poor children in Vijayawada. My work is not one day or one hour work. I worked for 21 days disturbing my work at my institution Eazy Foreign Languages.

Everybody likes social service. Many people want to watch while others do it.  I don't want to be by-stander or  a spectator so  I  decided  to do it myself. I must be one among those who serve the society. I think one day everybody has to start.  

Many people offer food and blankets to the poor.  Food and blankets and other material help offer relief. They not not permanent help. Education enables ennobles and empowers people for ever. 

Because I have nothing else to depend upon other than education. I teach English and other foreign languages in Vijayawada. My institute  Eazy foreign languages offers German,  French and other foreign languages in Vijayawada. when students from distant places come to Vijayawada, my home becomes a guest house for them and they become my guests.

                           

                                    The best way to relate with people is to serve them.

Thought I have been doing it  since 2012.  I wanted to be modest and  I was unwilling to reveal or share the details of my social work and the hardships I had faced.  upon seeing many great people and Facebook friends like Katnam Balagangadhar Tilak ( The Doctor of Roads) I thought I could share my work too.  I respect the unselfish work done by anybody I share this with a view that some reader of this post will invite me to his place or offer me a chance to serve.

Today after four years I wanted to share a post with a view that one day it may inspire at least one person. I am sure many people are shifting from  materialistic view to social service due to the fact that " life is short" and also due to the increasing exposure to the philanthropic work done by many people including young children. I strong believe that one need not be rich in order to serve.

My current work spot is Sramika Bhavan. My task is to train the children in English Communication. I carry a Television a camera and other required equipment and cables from third floor of my residence put them in my car and reach Sramika bhavan.

Children enjoy activities with bubbling joy and enthusiasm. They have time of their lives.

                        If I infuse a skill in people  I live in them in form of the skill.

              Our children are capable of learning if our teachers are capable of training.

On 20th May 2016 we went out for a short trip which is aimed at dragging French out of the Class. It is customary to take students out for a trip to speak French practically which enhances their confidence. It is my passion to build a a small french speaking world.

So we went out on a short trip for two hours. We carried nothing with us except French and Fun. What we brought back is amazing confidence that we can speak French naturally and easily. Of course it is a test to the French that students have learnt in the class at EFL. Yes. our French is working. After speaking in French continuously and spontaneously students certainly pick up the confidence. That is why we say we have brought back something very precious...... CONFIDENCE.

Don't limit your French to Class room. Learn French Naturally... Welcome French into real life .  Go out into the World with French.. Try French out side.  Speaking French in real sense matters a lot.

French offers real fun during casual conversations. French slowly turns into a strong habit. 

Vignettes around Vijayawada

At least there are a few people who don't always work on economic grounds.  A few people are not entirely in buck-hunt(money hunt)  because they have the service motives. I am one among those who love social work. As a  Foreign languages expert I know the advantages of learning a foreign language such as French or German. I know the fate of our rural children.  Our urban children as well are in no better position than the rural children when it comes to English language. ( leave alone Foreign languages like French and German.  I am always fascinated  and haunted by the idea of training  the rural children and never missed the slightest opportunity of training the Children in small villages. I exhorted many school heads to introduce Foreign Languages in Vijayawada. I am willing  to teach in  many rural schools French or German or Spanish or Italian  FREE OF COST.  But schools generally don't  think beyond exams.

The glimpses of my journey into villages near and far bring to mind feelings of great joy.

The program that took place in a small village near Ibrabhimpatnam dates back to March 2012.

Teachers ignorance and unwillingness to learn chokes the knowledge in rural schools. We can not blame the teachers entirely because the managements are not willing to pay bring experts. They spend on school decoration and school bus or van to bring more children. The managements blame the parents. However this should not be a blame game. Somebody has to work. I decided to work.

I used to start at 2 pm immediately after finishing my German Classes at Vijayawada. It is quite hot and difficult to drive 25 kilometers to reach Pedda avutupalli but the joy of training the children inspires me. I am passionate to teach the young children Foreign languages. Fortunately these children are ( all children for that matter) interested in learning a Foreign language. It is in the hands of the elders, parents and school managements to encourage them. If a school or a parent shows interest I will certainly work for them.
