Challenging French in Vijayawada

The first French novel from Andrapradesh was released in Vijayawada in Jan 2017. The Book launch was widely reported in all English and Telugu newspapers.

"Our School" and "Notre école" are English and French novels. French and English novels were released at the Amaravathi cultural center Vijayawada in Jan 2017.

Bhavitha (8th class student from Vijayawada ) had been learning French for two weeks when she attended the Bilingual novel release function at the Culture Center in Moghalrajpuram .

The CEO of the culture center Dr. Nagireddy has keen interest in French language. He has learnt French in Hyderabad. and thrilled to know that French was being taught in Vijayawada. He said, "In those days French in Vijayawada was unthinkable." He has great love and understanding of French language. He has enlightened the audience about learning French. He wondered if the French learners in Vijayawada could speak in French.  I offered mike to my french student who had been learning French for two weeks to speak in French.  She has taken the gauntlet in the presence of educational consultants and the other elite . She sang and delighted the audience. It was simply a challenging performance.

How to develop your English - Poolabala

Develop reading and writing as a habit.

Those who want to learn writing must write every day. They must take a topic and write everyday. Then only they  can find their weaknesses. Those who don't know English grammar think that they can write anything if they know the grammar well as if grammar is the only requirement for effective wiriting.

To wirte effective we need vast knowledge of world, country, culture,  history, science, society, cinema. We must present excellent examples from this knowledge with great vocabulary and impresive style of writing. Let us know about the first requirement knowledge.

1.Poor  knowledge is the main cause for poor writing. One should improve one's knowledge and resolve the first major problem.

The other problems are

2.Lack of grammar 3.Erroneous sentence structure 4.Lack of organization of ideas into meaningful paragraphs. These problems can be solved in a month or two but one can not attain the knowledge of various things in a short time

1. Shallowness of knowledge.

Lack of commonsense this is the common problem associated with people who don't know English -  Usually these people can not imagine a few meaningful words about any given topic. In other words they can not say four or five meaningful sentences about a given topic even in their mother tongue. This class of people are generally lazy. They don't want to read. They don't want to write. Their articulation and memory are weak due to their bad attitude. Their attitude is that they don't want to struggle for English. They only worry about English. They want have beautiful English just by learning grammar rules. What they never realize is that they can not develop their English without reading extensively. (at least ten books).

If they can overcome the first problem the rest are trivial problems or not at all problems. Remaining problems such as lack of grammar, erroneous sentence structure, lack of organization of ideas into meaningful paragraphs can be overcome only when the learner is prepared to work. Unfortunately these people are merely listeners, in other words non learners. They don't work. They lack work culture. They always seek explanation.

Such people should develop work culture and measure their work quantitatively. They have to ask themselves:

How many essays I have read?
How  many paragraphs I have written?
Can I write an essay effectively?
How many conversations I have learnt or I do each day?
How long I speak English Each day? ( 10 min/20 min/1 hr)
Do I speak English continuously or a few sentences here and there in mother tongue?

How to advance your English and develop style of writing?

writing , reading, speaking and listening are normal in the first level. You get average quality in the first level. How to get good quality or superior quality is the question for many people. It is true after achieving ordinary writing and speaking many people want to write better and speak better.

If you want to advance your English take any ordinary topic and add the power of vocabulary and beauty of sentence structure and give it life and luster.

I have taken an ordinary topic COOKING. Here is my write up.

Is cooking Science or Art? If it is Art, how woman masters the art? Does she acquire it simply by inheritance? If it is considered science how does she evolve such a scientific acumen and brings it down to daily routine? Does it require a bit of instinct rather than insight? I personally believe that there is some sort of subliminal force in women which is missing in men. It is jinx.

Because the choice, transformation and combination of ingredients she can get to create something more than palatable is astounding. For aught I know it is communicating feelings or moods. A meal may transform others mood. No doubt it is an art. Nevertheless it is also science when women perform the task with hygiene which is the cornerstone and quintessence of cooking.

Unfortunately my cooking has always been an adventure. Jinx. Jinx

Thank you

The two Indo-french novelists

Venkat Poolabala is the first Indian who wrote a novel in French  after Toru datta.  Toru wrote Le Journal de Mademoiselle d’Arvers.  It was  published posthumously in 1879

"Notre école" is the first French novel in 21st century written by Poolabala.  It is written not only in French but also in English as "Our School." It is published on 31st December in 2016.

I first thought of making a French film but after waiting for two years I wrote a French novel

Circumstances that led to the writing of the Novel

You can see the French title Notre école on the cover page.    It was my French dream. I had the dream of making a French film.  I knew it was hard because the project not only needed young children who are willing to act but also capable of speaking French.

You know that parents  are willing to send children to regular IIT coaching schools. I was inspired by the story of the Chandran the auto driver whose novel has been made into a film that won first prize at the international film festival at Milan. I wanted to involve some children from my place and I hoped that they would win international recognition if not an award. I sought the help of many people I know. There was hardly any response even after 2 years of search and service.

I did not waste the inspiring story with unparalleled motif. So I have brought out the story in the form of a novel as Film making was not possible.

2016 December we visited Matturu

The climax of the novel was written in Mattur. The last part of the novel takes place in Mattur. This needed more information of the Sanskrit speaking village in India. I could have got information from  google but I preferred to visit personally and get the first hand information.

Finally I had the fulfillment of a two year long dream. I have published and presented the English version of Notre école - Our school as a New Year gift to many of my dear friends and literature lovers. I am now waiting for their feedback.

Trust always wins - The girl who went to Germany

A boy from Delhi came to Vijayawada to learn German. His name is Manjyoth singh. A girl came to Vijayawada to learn the same German language in vijayawada.  When people come from faraway place to Vijayawada it is a matter of my reputation as a German teacher. Naturally I feel happy about it, but when a girl stays in my house it is a matter trust. Then I am proud of myself, because trust is a great honor.

Tea time discussion in German language

And trust me Trust always works.

When people come to learn from others states or distant places to Vijayawada to learn a foreign language I honour them as guests. I would ask them to stay with me. The girl in the picture above is Tejaswini. She came from a small village near Eluru.  She came to Vijayawada to learn German in vijayawada in Eazy Foreign Languages. I remember all my students and guests very often as they are tug at heart. This blog will help me recollect Teja more vividly.

It is very hard to forget a good relation.

Several students came and stayed with us but they were boys. She is also a student but in first place she is a girl. A girl staying with the teacher's family is rare. It is a reflection of trust. A trust that her parents and she reposed in me. She is the student who stayed with us ate and lived us. I strongly believe that a relation will never die down as long as we long for it.

People called her Teju. I called her Carisimma ( Bangaru talli in Telugu). She is fearless and broadminded. I have seen many girls but no girl can match with her dynamism. She chatted with me like an adult, discussed with me like a student and fought with me like my daughter.

Lunch with Tejaswani while watching German comedy

In many ways Tea is beyond compare. She has clarity of thought and self awareness. There is hardly any difference between her speech and action. Usually people of her age live in a make-belief with hypocrisy. She has learned German successfully, gave us true happiness during her stay in my home. On the last day she was leaving Vijayawada I took her to Minerva restaurant for lunch. She flew to Europe in search of her dream. She is now studying medicine in Germany. Teju, I am not sure whether you read this blog post or not but I always remember you as a brave friendly person true to your word.

French in Vijayawada - Jaunt with francophone

de Bonjour à Bêtise..  with French learners from Vijayawada.

A car trip to practise French.

On 30th December 2016 we a small group of French learners in vijayawada went on a Jaunt(a pleasure trip). Keeping up with the tradition of Eazy Foreign languages - learning French out side the classroom.  We started our trip with a goal to enjoy French speaking in a private sphere.

Usually such trips encourage camaraderie and quickens language learning. I had more Ausflüge ( German word for trips) than des excursions. ( a French word for trips)  Yes.. true. I had many outings with German students than with the French students. The reason is French students are very very very busy. For each trip to happen I start my plan a week to a month in advance.  My German blog www.germanplus.blogspot.com shows more trips and outings with German students.  Language learning must be dragged out of the classroom. Whether it is French  or German this is the philosophy of Eazy Foreign Languages.

The journey started at 10.00 A.M on 30th December as planned. Mr.Rafi, Mr. Kesav, Mr. Yogesh and Mr. Venkatesh and I started from palaparthi street. Usually I use my car for all educational trips but this time Rafi's newly bought car Getz gave us her smoothest ride like her owner who gave us warmest fun.
A sweet memoryRafi's company is always a joy. He makes the conversations light and fun. Yogesh and Rafi always play the match like two batsmen in cricket. Fun needs Ideas and Energy too. They have both in abundance. It is a healthy way of learning too. Yogesh took us to his house beside hills in Mangalagiri. I had coffee and conversation with his parents. His mother gave me coffee and volunteered herself into conversation. we came out  from Yogesh's home and Rafi was driving. Fresh fun began. we enjoyed everything.

Then the conversation and car travel both took a turn. The conversation was on French short film and actors and actresses for the film and other rough jokes and satires and retaliations in the onward journey became personal. When you find equals anything sounds good, dancing or drinking. we decided to visit "impulse" the most expensive pub in the city near D.V Manor Hotel.

We traveled with more enthusiasm with vivacity and finally reached our destination. we got in to the fourth floor by elevator and enjoyed the music, discussed love marriages and careers. The marvelous conversations led to cheers. We are going to make a film in French. that is for sure. French zindabad! Friendship zindabad!!
