Poolabala to International Humanity Conference

Humanity in action.

“ we are the most polished race on the earth.

French revolution 1789 - Poolabala

The French Revolution lasted from 1789 until 1799, and was partially carried forward by Napoleon during the expansion of the French Empire. The Revolution overthrew the monarchy and culminated in a dictatorship under Napoleon however France rapidly transformed into a democratic and secular society with freedom of religion, legalization of divorce, decriminalization of same-sex relationships, and civil rights for Jews and black people. The Republic was proclaimed in September 1792. Louis XVI was executed in January 1793.
Following the Seven Year American Revolutionary War, the French government was deeply in debt and attempted to restore its financial status through unpopular taxation schemes but the years of bad harvests lead up to the Revolution. It was inflamed by the popular resentment of the privileges enjoyed by the clergy and the aristocracy.

1789 the first year of the Revolution saw members of the Third Estate taking control, the assault on the Bastille in July, and a women's march on Versailles that forced the royal court back to Paris are the important events of the French revolution.

Women in France had no political rights in pre-Revolutionary France; they were considered "passive" citizens; forced to rely on men to determine what was best for them. The women demanded equality with men and then moved on to a demand for the end of male domination. Their chief vehicle for agitation was pamphlets and women's clubs, but the clubs were abolished in 1793 and their leaders were arrested.

The Women's March to Versailles took place on 5 October 1789. it is also known as the October March. The crowd sieged the palace in a dramatic and violent confrontation. They successfully pressed their demands upon King Louis XVI. The march on Versailles proved to be a defining moment of that Revolution.

The revolution opened gates for flood of women. groups of women acted forcefully, making use of the volatile political climate. Women forced their way into the political sphere. Jean-Paul Marat was a radical journalist and politician during the French Revolution. Marat was assassinated by Charlotte Corday, while he was taking a medicinal bath. Corday was executed four days later, on 17 July 1793.

Karl Marx und Friedrich Nietzsche

The religion is the opium of the masses.
"Die Religion ist das Opium des Volkes" - Karl Marx

The production of too many useful things results in too many useless people.

Social progress can be measured by the social position of the female sex - Karl Marx

In bourgeois society capital is independent and has individuality. Person is dependent and has no individuality.

Capital is dead labor, which, vampire-like, lives only by sucking living labor, and lives the more, the more labor it sucks.

The first requisite for the happiness of the people is the abolition of religion.

Necessity is blind until it becomes conscious. Freedom is the consciousness of necessity.

The country that is more developed industrially only shows, to the less developed, the image of its own future.

Machines were, it may be said, the weapon employed by the capitalists to quell the revolt of specialized labor.

 Friedrich Nietzsche

I cannot believe in a God who wants to be praised all the time.

Without music, life would be a mistake.

Hope in reality is the worst of all evils because it prolongs the torments of man.

Many are stubborn in pursuit of the path they have chosen, few in pursuit of the goal.

Insanity is the rule in groups, parties and nations.
Wahnsinn ist die Regel in Gruppen, Parteien und Nationen.

Fear is the mother of morality. Angst ist die Mutter der Moral.

To forget one's purpose is the commonest form of stupidity.

Convictions are more dangerous foes of truth than lies.

Syrian Civil War - summery by Poolabala

The Syrian Civil War  also known as the Syrian Revolution, is an ongoing armed conflict taking place in Syria. The unrest began in the early spring of 2011 within the context of Arab Spring protests, with nationwide protests against President Bashar al-Assad's government, whose forces responded with violent crackdowns.

In the east, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), a jihadist militant group originating from Iraq, made very rapid military gains in both Syria and Iraq, eventually conflicting with the other rebels. In July 2014, ISIL controlled a third of Syria's territory and most of its oil and gas production, thus establishing itself as the major opposition force.

"overtly sectarian in nature", between mostly Alawite government forces, militias and other Shia groups fighting largely against Sunni-dominated rebel groups, although both opposition and government forces have denied it.

As of April 2014 the death toll had risen above 190,000. International organizations have accused forces on all sides of severe human rights violations, with many massacres occurring. Chemical weapons have been used many times during the conflict as well. Government forces are reportedly responsible for the majority of civilian casualties, often through bombings. In addition, tens of thousands of protesters and activists have been imprisoned and there are reports of torture in state prisons.

The severity of the humanitarian disaster in Syria has been outlined by the UN and many international organizations. More than 6.5 million Syrians have been displaced, more than 3 million Syrians have fled the country to countries such as Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey, Egypt, and Iraq and become refugees, and millions more have been left in poor living conditions with shortages of food and drinking water. At the end of August 2014, 35,000 refugees were awaiting registration, while estimates of several hundred thousand more were not included in official figures as they were unregistered.

The American Civil War

The American Revolution short summary

The Britain started a series of 13 colonies (Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, Virginia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and South Carolina) with different founding dates in the United States. Virginia was the oldest among them. It was colonized in 1607. Britain declared independence to Rhode Island first. In 1776 the British declared independene to Virginia but really didn't achieve it until 1783. The British rule lasted for 170 years in America.

The American Revolution was a colonial revolt that took place between 1765 and 1783. The American Patriots in the Thirteen Colonies won independence from Great Britain, becoming the United States of America. They defeated the British in the American Revolutionary War in alliance with France and others.

In the 1760 s the British passed new laws that made colonists pay taxes on sugar, tea, and other things. ... The American Revolution began. Colonists wanted independence from Britain. The Revolutionary War began with the confrontation between British troops and local militia at Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts, on 19 April 1775. The conflict lasted a total of seven years, with the major American victory at Yorktown in 1781 marking the end of hostilities.

The Treaty of Paris, signed in Paris by representatives of King George III of Great Britain and representatives of the United States of America on September 3, 1783, ended the American Revolutionary War.

British ministers, and the king, rebuffed the Americans, and started to treat them as open enemies, making many of the colonists think that independence was the only option.

The  revolution presented the Americans as staunch defenders of liberty and the British as a threat to that liberty. But for enslaved people in the colonies, it was the British who represented liberty, not the white Americans.

The British nearly won the war in 1776. By mid-December, many British officers assumed that the rebellion was on the verge of collapse. But just after Christmas, Washington boldly counter-attacked, reviving American spirits and ensuring that the war continued. Contemporaries blamed General Howe, the British commander, for not seizing the opportunity to crush the rebellion when he had the chance.

A significant number of white Americans remained loyal to the British crown. somewhere around a fifth of white colonists refused to accept a complete break with Britain. Some of these loyalists took up arms on the British side, and many of them migrated to Canada at the end of the war. The French government helped the American rebels almost from the beginning of the war. The rebels first received French arms and ammunition; these vital supplies were followed by large injections of cash, which continued throughout the war.

When the French formally intervened in 1778, the struggle became a global war. The Spanish and Dutch joined the war in 1779 and 1780. The French and Spanish fleets combined outgunned the Royal Navy.

In the summer of 1779, a Franco-Spanish armada controlled the Channel. At the end of 1780, the Dutch joined the conflict, too. While they posed little threat to the British on their own, their involvement extended the geographical range of the war even further. General Cornwallis’s British army was trapped by American and French troops and cut off from relief by the French navy. Cornwallis’s surrender effectively ended the war in America.
